Scholarships

SATAC's participating provide a variety of scholarships, bursaries and grants to assist students. Visit the relevant ’s website for detailed information about available opportunities and requirements.

Equity Scholarships

You can apply for university-funded Equity Scholarships at Adelaide University through SATAC.

Equity Scholarships are for students who can provide proof of financial need.

Australian government payments

The Australian Government provides financial assistance to students through payments administered by Services Australia.

You may be eligible for one of the following payments:

  • Youth Allowance - a fortnightly payment for people aged 16 to 24 who are studying full-time or doing a full-time Australian Apprenticeship. Some job seekers aged 16 to 21 may also qualify.
  • Austudy - a fortnightly payment for people aged 25 or over who are studying full-time or doing a full-time Australian Apprenticeship.
  • ABSTUDY -  a group of payments for First Nations Australians studying or doing an Australian Apprenticeship. These payments can help with living costs, study expenses and travel.
  • Pensioner Education Supplement - a regular payment to help with study costs for students who also receive certain income support payments from Centrelink or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. 

If you’re moving for study, you may also be eligible for the following payments:

  • Tertiary Access Payment - a one-off payment for students relocating from a regional or remote area for tertiary study
  • Relocation Scholarship - an annual payment to assist students receiving Youth Allowance or ABSTUDY who need to move to or from a regional or remote area for study.
  • Fares Allowance - a payment to help cover travel costs for students who need to live away from their family home to study.

You may also be eligible for additional support, including:

  • Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) - provides financial support to eligible domestic students undertaking a mandatory placement in a Diploma of Nursing or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in teaching, nursing, midwifery, or social work.
  • Student Start-up Loan - a voluntary loan available up to twice a year for students receiving Youth Allowance, Austudy, or ABSTUDY Living Allowance. The loan must be repaid once you start earning above a certain income threshold.
  • Education Entry Payment - provides support for study or training costs if you have received certain payments from Services Australia.
  • Other concessions and allowances - such as a Health Care Card and Rent Assistance. 

Most payments can be claimed online from 13 weeks before your course starts using your myGov account linked to Centrelink. For more information about eligibility and how to apply, visit the Services Australia website.
