Pay any outstanding fees

Review your course preferences

You can log back in to reorder your preferences, ensuring your most desired course is listed first. Be mindful that changing your preferences after certain dates may affect your to receive an offer. For more information, refer to the preferences page.

You can list up to six preferences in an or application, and up to three preferences in a TAFE SA application.

Respond to requests promptly

If SATAC contacts you with instructions or requests, complete the action as soon as possible to avoid delays or missing out.

Monitor key dates

Be aware of offer round dates and deadlines for changes. This helps you know when to expect outcomes and when you can still adjust your application.

View the key dates page for more information.

Check your offer status

SATAC will email you any offers you receive. You can also log in to mySATAC to see if you’ve received one. Follow the instructions carefully in your offer letter. See the offers and enrolment page for more information.

If you do not receive a semester 1 offer

If you have not received an offer by the time semester 1 teaching begins, you can update your preferences to continue to be considered for later study periods within the same year. Your application remains active for the entire cycle, including semester 2 and summer school, so there’s still an opportunity to receive an offer even after semester 1 has commenced.

Example:
Len applied for six semester 1 preferences but did not receive an offer before teaching commenced. After speaking with his preferred universities, he updated his application – removing his semester 1 preferences and replacing them with semester 2 courses. He also added a foundation course starting in semester 2 as a backup, which was recommended by his preferred university.

By adjusting his preferences, Len now remains for consideration for his preferred courses. If he had kept only semester 1 options, his application would effectively stop working for him as he would no longer be eligible or considered in future offers rounds.

For more information, refer to the offers and enrolment page.

Rejection letters

SATAC does not issue ‘rejection letters’ to applicants who do not receive an offer, as your application fee covers the entire application cycle, including semester 2 and summer school entry (where available). If you are not eligible for your initial preferences, you can update them and continue to be considered for other study periods.

If you don’t receive an offer, it’s a good idea to speak with SATAC or your preferred , as there may be alternative pathways or later intake options to help you work towards your study goals.

If you do not receive an offer across the entire application cycle

If you do not receive an offer for semester 1, semester 2, or summer school, it may be helpful to contact SATAC or the relevant institutions to discuss alternative pathways or future intake options that could support your study goals.

Enrolling in a course

Enrolment is completed directly through the , not SATAC. If you have any questions about the process, please contact the relevant institution.

Withdrawing from a course

Once you’ve accepted an offer by enrolling, you’ll need to contact the institution directly to withdraw from your course.

After enrolling, make sure you’re aware of key dates (including census dates) as these can affect fees and withdrawal options. If you’ve enrolled in more than one course, ensure you unenrol or withdraw from any you no longer wish to continue in to avoid unnecessary charges or consequences.

If I have a question, do I ask SATAC or the institution?

Once you’ve enrolled (unless you’re still being considered for higher preferences through SATAC), your main point of contact will be your institution. Think of it this way – SATAC supports you through the application and offer process, then once you enrol, your institution takes over for study-related questions and support.

If you’re still waiting on higher preference outcomes, continue to check your SATAC application for updates.

If you ever want to study again, apply to a new course, or explore other options in the future, SATAC is always here to help.

I'm not eligible. Why might that be?

Start by checking your application carefully to ensure you’ve provided all required information. Some courses require additional supporting documents such as a portfolio, certificate, or other evidence. Also confirm that your application fee has been paid.

If you’ve supplied everything required and you’re still showing as not eligible, the course/s you’ve applied for may be competitive, meaning there are more applicants than available places. Because demand is high, not everyone who meets the minimum entry requirements will receive an offer, and other applicants may be ranked more competitively than you. You may need to consider changing your preferences to a different course.

You can update your preferences after submitting your application, keeping in mind key dates that may affect your eligibility for offers.

If you’re unsure, contact SATAC for advice and support.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is an individual education identifier that stays with you for life.

All students seeking financial assistance or commencing in a Commonwealth Supported Place must have a USI. You will also need your USI when applying for a HELP loan.

SATAC applicants are required to include their USI as part of their application, so we recommend obtaining one as early as possible. Additionally, all students need a USI to receive their award, including international onshore students.

Continuing students are encouraged to get their USI as soon as possible.

Please note that providing your USI in your mySATAC application does not replace the need to provide previous study information. SATAC cannot retrieve your academic history from your USI, so you will still need to complete each required section within your application.

You can check if you already have a USI from previous vocational education or training, or get a USI online
