Subjects and career pathways

Planning ahead is important. If you haven’t selected the required subjects before Year 12, you may not meet the entry requirements for certain university courses.

Along with speaking to your school, teachers, career counsellors, and head of curriculum, we recommend exploring the following publications to support your subject selection. They are designed to help you align your school subjects with your future study goals:

We recommend talking further with your school, teachers, career counsellors and heads of curriculum, and contacting SATAC as early as possible if you have any questions. 

It’s also important to choose subjects that align with your interests and strengths, not just those you think may lead to the highest possible mark or ATAR. Enjoying your studies can help you stay motivated and achieve strong results.
